More and more of the ordinary rakyat are seeing that politicians in this country are the same.
Regardless of whether they are from UMNO, MCA, MIC, PKR, DAP, PAS, Bersatu, Amanah.
Inclusive of those political parties in Sarawak and Sabah.
They are only concerned for themselves.
Their greed for power knows no bounds.
That the politicians have no sense of shame.
That to say they are irresponsible in handling the tax payers monies is the understatement of the century.
‘I don’t know’ or ‘it isn’t my responsibility’ are the 2 go to answers whenever queried by the ordinary rakyat.
Instead of earning the respect from the electorate, they demand the ordinary rakyat to respect them.
Expecting them to tell the truth is like hoping for the sun to rise from the West.
They become increasingly good at avoiding and answering questions.
And the worse is that the ordinary rakyat were the one that allowed them to govern and lead this country.
More and more of the ordinary rakyat are seeing that the mainstream media are propaganda services for the ruling government, never to be trusted.
More and more people are seeing that the both sides of the political divide exists solely to protect the status quo of the political elites – again regardless of which political parties they are from - and not to promote the interests of the ordinary rakyat.
1MDB shows the ordinary rakyat something about the kind of nation they live in that where there are 2 class of rakyat, the elites and the ordinary rakyat.
When there are irrefutable evidence of mass corruption and stealing of tax payers monies entering the rakyat’s social media feeds on a daily basis, the entire political-media class tells them this is fine and normal, communicating a message which would be hard to receive in words alone.
There is so very, very little to say about the horrors that unfold thereafter where political elites steal and yet escape with impunity.
But it is opening eyes.
And enough open eyes are all that is required to change the political landscape in this country again.
The ordinary rakyat know how hard it is to get jobs, live below the poverty line and raise families on the low sums that they earned.
So if, a big if, the ordinary rakyat were elected to Parliament instead of big, official people, would our country be a better place to live?
If, instead of men there were more women in power, would the country would do much better?
A good example is the judiciary where confidence, eroded since the sacking of the Lord President years ago, returned, albeit gradually after a female was appointed to head it.
1MDB shows the ordinary rakyat that the country needs politicians and leaders who not only have common sense and can think logically but also competent.
If Najib is competent, he would not have been taken for a ride by the Board of Directors of 1MDB, an excuse which was given by him in the Courts to justify why he should not be held responsible for the debacle in 1MDB.
To claim publicly that he should not be held legally responsible for something that he did not initiate or have knowledge of is like a mother telling her illegitimate son that she did not give birth to him because he was a product of an illicit affair where there was only lust but no love.
Following the aftermath of 1MDB, the ordinary rakyat prays and wished for all politicians to stop:-
- behaving like children, learn what the ordinary rakyat want and be less self-interested
- and focus more on what’s best – for the short and long term – for the country instead of going for a win for their party and egos.
