With the prices of raw goods increasing (and no signs of the price going down anytime soon), it can be a challenge for food vendors, especially those in small-scale businesses to hit their targeted sales.

A food vendor from China, however, recently revealed that she’s making 5 figures a month. The unnamed vendor is running her food stall inside a restaurant in KL, where she was approached by her friend, who is also from China and wanted to find out roughly how much she makes in a month, as revealed on a Douyin post.

The food vendor said that the rental is RM1,500 every month, with the same amount charged to other vendors in the restaurant. The vendor, who was cutting some ingredients at that time was asked about how much she makes per month.

“If I work only in the evening, I can get around RM10,000 per month.”

The amount, however, doubles up if she works longer.

“If I work from evening until night time, I can get around RM20,000.”

Those in the F&B industry will understand that the journey is not a walk in the park. The sales fluctuate and the crowd come and go, depending on the timings.

For a vendor who is running a small-scale business, that amount is considered a big earning. Malaysian netizens, however, were skeptical about the 5 figure earnings that she claimed to have made every month.

“Bro, don’t lie to me. I’m here almost every day because I want to support them for their slow business.”

“Rm3,000 to RM4,000, that’s possible but RM20,000, that’s impossible. The prices of goods are increasing. I know, I’ve been in Malaysia for 8 years now,” said a netizen who is also from China.

“If you make 5 figures a month in Malaysia, you’re usually the boss.”

“Generally, you can make around RM8,000 by running a food stall. 5 figures, yes, but rare.”

Is anyone running a food stall around KL or Klang Valley? Is it possible to earn Rm20,000 or more in a month?
