  • LinkedIn has issued a warning to users about a significant increase in job scams, particularly those offering CV writing or improvement services.
  • Over a third of job scams reported on the platform globally now involve these CV services, which often provide poor quality results, use artificial intelligence, and can compromise personal information.
  • Scammers frequently attempt to move conversations off the LinkedIn platform and are five times more likely to be outside a job seeker's direct network.
  • The alert comes ahead of the typical annual September recruitment surge, a period when job seekers, especially new graduates, may be more vulnerable.
  • Other data corroborates this trend, with Lloyds Banking Group reporting a 237 per cent increase in 'advanced fee' job scams since the start of the year.
