The Netflix hit series is set to end soon but that doesn’t mean it’ll be the last time audiences will visit Hawkins. Netflix recently announced that Stranger Things is getting an animated spin-off. Stranger Things: Tales of ‘85 takes place between Season 2 and Season 3 right after the gang faced the Mind Flayer. The Duffer Brothers said, “When we started talking about is there anything else we wanted to do with Stranger Things, this was one of our first ideas.”

Plot details are being kept under wraps. We know that it’s set in the winter of 1985 and that the gang will embark on another “epic journey”. Showrunner Eric Robles teased that “nothing is as it seems” in Hawkins, which at this point is the town’s default. It’s reported that the series will be more family-friendly than its live-action counterpart, making it more accessible to a wider audience.

Though the gang remains the focal point of the show, none of the original cast will be providing their voices. A brand new cast of young performers will be lending their vocal talents to brin, Mike, Dustin, Will, Lucas, Max, and Eleven to life in the animated series. Janeane Garofalo and Lou Diamond Phillips are also in the cast, though who they’re playing hasn’t been revealed yet.

Stranger Things: Tales From ‘85 will stream on Netflix in 2026. Watch the announcement below.
