The Strokes’ Falling Out Of Love lean into heartbreak on new single
THE Strokes has released Falling Out of Love, the second single from its upcoming album Reality Awaits.
The track follows the earlier single Going Shopping, with the album scheduled for release on June 26. It will be the band’s first album since The New Abnormal, which won the Grammy Award for Best Rock Album in 2021.

The new record also reunites the band with producer Rick Rubin, who worked on The New Abnormal.
Falling Out of Love runs for more than six minutes and leans into a slower heartbreak ballad style, while frontman Julian Casablancas’s heavily processed vocals continue the more experimental direction heard on the band’s recent material.
The sound also carries traces of Casablancas’ work with his other band The Voidz, the experimental rock group with which he has released three studio albums.

Outside The Strokes, the band members have continued working on other projects. Guitarist Albert Hammond Jr. released a solo album in 2023, bassist Nikolai Fraiture released an EP with Summer Moon the same year and guitarist Nick Valensi’s band CRX released an album a year later.
The Strokes recently performed at Coachella, where its set included a video montage referencing US involvement in regime changes in countries including Chile, Bolivia and the Democratic Republic of the Congo. The montage also featured footage of Black Lives Matter protests and images of Martin Luther King Jr.
