I had worked with a Japanese Joint Venture (Toyobo Co. Ltd, Osaka & Kanematsu Gosho Ltd, Tokyo) manufacturing plants for 10 years (1973-1983) in Malaysia. Even though there were more production equipment and techniques, the system requires the people to be responsible for all activities of the company. I remember the 14 principles fall under the 4 broad categories. The 1st type is the Long-term Philosophy. The right process is the 2nd category that encompasses seven principles. The 3rd step requires propagation of value to make people grow in their careers. Partners also benefit from this policy. It has 3 principles. The last 3 principles are the are in the fourth category that continuously solves root problems and hence drives organizational learning.

During my emersion programs in Japan, I was able to learn and benchmarked Toyota Company way to sustainable success. Leadership provides a means for organizations to pursue their goals. It came up with a system that would help manage its style of business. The system was supposed to monitor any defects and provide a means by which a solution could be possible. Despite being engineering driven, Toyota way tends to put more emphasis on people. (www. global.toyota>company-production-system)

Organized by UMW Toyota Motor, the run aligns with their global “Start Your Impossible” campaign, encouraging runners to push past their physical limits, and redefine their boundaries. Pix: Farouq

So, when the Toyota Start Your Impossible Outrun 2026 in line with its tagline ‘Move Your World’ at Dataran Putrajaya held on 5th July, I encouraged my 3 children to participate in this highly significant event focused on community health, inclusivity & charity. The run raised fund for the National Cancer Society Malaysia (NCSM), and featured 5km, 10km & 21km race categories. The run serves as an ongoing corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative. Beyond the races, the event hosted a vibrant “Race Village” where thousands of runners gathered. We enjoyed family-friendly activities & had the opportunity to view latest Toyota vehicles. Pix: Farouq

I found it's worth joining for every reason fuels us to break our impossible, go beyond physical. Surely, it always seems impossible until we really outrun it.
