One Traitors contestant is being praised for an “iconic” farewell speech as he was revealed to be a Faithful after being banished.

Back for more backstabbing and scheming, the BBC released its third season of the popular show on New Year’s Day.

Hosted by Claudia Winkleman, the reality TV show follows a group of contestants living together in a castle in the Scottish Highlands. Among them are a secret number of “Traitors”, who must conspire to eliminate others in the group without being detected.

The final survivors will have the chance of winning the life-changing sum of money. However, if a Traitor makes it through undetected, they will be able to claim the prize for themselves.

*Spoilers ahead*

On Wednesday night’s episode (8 January), it was revealed that Maia had been “murdered” after she’d nominated her own sister (correctly) for being a Traitor.

Traitors Linda and Minah decided that their fellow contestants would think Maia could never be a Traitor after the integrity she displayed. Perceiving her as a threat, the pair giggled as they voted to eliminate her.

Alexander and Fozia were brought back into the game after mysteriously disappearing on a train during the first episode, while Jack was sent home having never been a Traitor or a Faithful.

After a tense show, and even more bad acting by Linda, the group deliberated over who they would eliminate. Kas received seven votes, Anna received five, and Freddie received four, meaning the GP was sent home.

However, before he was eliminated he made a speech with a cheeky reference to one of the other contestants who helped bring him down.

“It’s been fantastic, and you are all fantastic people, and I know it’s just a game,” Kas began as he teased the reveal.

“And Joe, who would have thought you’d caught me based on a twinkle in the eye?” he added, sarcastically.

“On the first round table, I was selected to be a... Faithful.”

Other contestants were left in tears as they defended him, with Dan saying Kas had been eliminated based on unfounded “assumptions”.

Joe said he felt “less bad” after voting Kas off following the dig.

“Hang it in the Louvre,” wrote one viewer on X/Twitter as they praised Kas’s speech.

Another added: “Kas making them all believe they caught another traitor in his speech and then immediately leaving without saying goodbye. Iconic.”

“One of the most iconic exits ever,” said a third.

“Kas’ exit line was EVERYTHING - more murderous than any murder we’ve seen so far,” wrote one viewer.

“Possibly the best exit we’ve ever had?” suggested another. “The way he raised their hopes while putting Joe in the firing line…”

The Traitors airs at 9pm on Wednesdays, Thursdays and Fridays.
