A little over a year since the final episode of The White Lotus season 3 aired, the HBO Original series is officially back in production for its fourth season. Contrary to all the red tape surrounding the previous Thailand season, HBO has been more generous with details this time around, and even revealed the hotels where the show will be filmed (shockingly, not a Four Seasons property this time). Here’s everything we know so far around locations, cast, and plot.

The White Lotus Season 4 begins filming in France
What to expect from the plot
According to HBO, The White Lotus Season 4 has begun filming on the French Riviera. As with previous seasons, it has been created, written, and directed by Mike White. The clapperboard shows an art deco-style font with the words ‘White Lotus Côte d’Azur,’ as a nod to its glitzy new location.
Official sources state that the fourth season will follow yet another new group of hotel guests and employees over a span of week, coinciding with the Cannes Film Festival. Set for the end of May this year, we’re already curious to see how the real-life festival will be depicted on the anthology series.
Famously, The White Lotus always centres around a new group of people in a new location. Each season, a new theme is explored, and intertwined with Mike White’s signature cocktail of satire, murder mystery, and social commentary.
According to Entertainment Tonight, the show’s creator says “it’s going to be a fun and funnier ‘White Lotus,'” and in regards to theme, “season 4 is about fame…there are some people who are satisfied with the love of one intimate partner or a family, and then there are some people who need the love of strangers.” Following the more spiritual path of season 3, Mike White promises this season will be “a bit more wickedly playful.”
Confirmed cast members
HBO has been gradually releasing names of cast members over the last few weeks, and the list is long and impressive. Here is everyone you can expect to see in the main cast, according to the official press release: Helena Bonham Carter, Vincent Cassel, Steve Coogan, Caleb Jonte Edwards, Dylan Ennis, Corentin Fila, Ari Graynor, Marissa Long, Alexander Ludwig, Chris Messina, AJ Michalka, Kumail Nanjiani, and Nadia Tereszkiewicz.
Meanwhile, the additional cast includes Chloe Bennet, Sandra Bernhard, Heather Graham, Max Greenfield, Frida Gustavsson, Charlie Hall, Jarrad Paul, Rosie Perez, Ben Schnetzer, and Laura Smet.
Seasons 2 and 3 also saw returning characters (namely Jennifer Coolidge as Tanya, Jon Gries as Gary/Greg, and Natasha Rothwell as Belinda), though no returning characters have been unveiled for The White Lotus Season 4 just yet.

Filming locations for The White Lotus Season 4
The White Lotus Season 4 will film in Cannes, St. Tropez, Monaco, and Paris. However, the main storyline will remain along the Côte d’Azur. This is somewhat similar to the Thailand season, where the storyline remained on the island(s), though some scenes were shot in Bangkok.
Notably, the cast and crew of The White Lotus typically live on-site at the hotels during filming. However, for season 4, both properties still appear to be open to public bookings at the time of writing. The more significant impact tends to come after the series airs, when ‘set-jetting’ drives waves of tourists to its filming locations, often resulting in a noticeable tourism boom for each destination.
The hotels that will be featured this season include the Airelles Château de la Messardière (which will be charmingly named ‘White Lotus du Cap’) in St. Tropez, and Hôtel Martinez (as ‘White Lotus Cannes’). The latter is an interesting shift from the show’s previous associations with only Four Seasons properties, as Hôtel Martinez is part of Hyatt’s The Unbound Collection. This collection is one of five in the hospitality group’s luxury tier.
According to Deadline, Hôtel Martinez is famously also a major hub for celebrities during the Cannes Film Festival. Maybe, we’ll even get to spot a VIP cameo.

The White Lotus Season 4 is expected to drop in 2027. You can stream The White Lotus Season 3 now on HBO Max.
