I had the rare opportunity to meet Professor Dr. Zulqarnain Mohamed, Dean, Faculty of Science, Universiti Malaya & Professor (Molecular Genetics) at Institute of Biological Sciences, who graced the book launch of Professor Dr. Raymond Ooi & Mathematician Goh Peng Ooi, titled “The Way of Creation, Nature and Life: Physics and Mathematics Perspectives”. I was amazed with his expertise in Human Genetics, Genomics, Molecular Genetics, the field of biology that studies the structure & functions of genes of an organism. He is an alumnus of Universiti Malaya who obtained BSc (Hons) Genetics in 1994, and his PhD in Human Molecular Genetics from the University of Aberdeen, Scotland in 1999.
According to research done by Professor Zulqarnian, many biologists have produced remarkable findings that the process of evolution has grown easier over the eons because certain gene patterns turn some species into ever more agile adapters to environmental changes. Wisdom is a human trait that requires the use and extension of our knowledge of the evolutionary processes that created our genetic heritage and humanity. Thus, natural selection creates evolutionary pathways from the molecular biology of the gene.
I believe that science rooted in experience allowed humankind to rebuild and rise above the ruin of war, creating even greater peace and prosperity for billions of people. The true power of science is that it enables us, empowers us & gives us more options for peaceful co-existence. Science magnifies the innovative, creative and enduring spirit of humanity.
The book deeply researched and aptly written by Prof Raymond & Goh Peng Ooi that was launched by Dean Zulqarnain, is indeed timely as a well-known US entrepreneur and billionaire Elon Musk, announced in pursuit of Quantum Computing Technology in 2024 offered new stock for investors worldwide in shaping human destiny and our daily lives.
