The food and beverage industry is perhaps 1 of the businesses that bring in the most money. However, just like any other business, there are always thick and thin. A temporary downfall is inevitable, especially when people cannot afford to spend more.

A Ramadhan Bazaar vendor in Segamat, Johor admitted that the situation this year has been a lot tougher than expected. According to the vendor, not everyone shares the same fate in making a lot of money through the F&B business and this year, her daily profit has not even exceeded RM100.

“It’s not like what everyone imagines. This year, I’ve seen a lot of vendors suffer from major losses, and they are struggling to make profits.”

The food wastage is not the only problem the vendor has to worry about but also the fate of her staff and the rental fee reported Sin Chew.

“As of now, judging from the low sales this year, I cannot afford to pay my staff.”

She added that the vendor beside her stall took a break for 3 days because the business this year is not bringing in any profits at all, and other vendors are also saying that this is by far the worst in 10 years.

Despite the tough circumstances this year, the vendor said that she is still running her business at the Ramadhan Bazaar and she has yet to give up. She is committed to keep trying as much as she can.

“I am not discouraged yet. But I hope people can stop saying we make a lot.”
