In accordance with the authority entrusted to him by Articles 40 (2)(a) and 43 (2)(a) of the Federal Constitution, His Majesty the Yang di-Pertuan Agong, Al-Sultan Abdullah Ri' ayatuddin Al-Mustafa Billah Shah, has decided to name Tambun MP Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim as Malaysia's 10th Prime Minister.
The decision was made public when His Majesty agreed to attend and preside over the Special Discussion of the Malay Rulers at the Istana Negara today, according to a statement from the Istana Negara.
His Majesty was happy to ask His Majesty the Malay Monarchs about the procedure for choosing a new prime minister after the 15th General Election (GE15) on November 19, 2022, during the Special Discussion session that began at 11:00 that morning.
After 5 days of a hung parliament, the mystery of who is going to be appointed as the 10th Prime Minister of Malaysia is now answered. During the live press conference with Astro Awani on 24 November 2022, the new prime minister answered a series of questions regarding his position and future plans for Malaysia.
One of the questions that stands out the most is who will the new prime minister, Anwar Ibrahim, be appointed as the Deputy Prime Minister?
Anwar confidently stated that the new government is a unity government between Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak. Because of this, Anwar Ibrahim announced that for now there will be two positions of Deputy Prime Minister and it will go to each from Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak.
Not only that, but the new prime minister also announced that he will welcome Perikatan Nasional with an open arm if Perikatan Nasional changed their mind and are willing to join Pakatan Harapan, Barisan Nasional and Gabungan Parti Sarawak to form a unity government together. After all, Perikatan Nasional received the second-highest votes in the 15th general election.
