A pair of thieves were caught on CCTV rifling through pubgoers’ bags for seven minutes whilst their victims “stood nearby having a drink”.

Footage shared by City Of London police shows Majazy Latif, 28, and Youcef Aliouat, 32, rummaging through people’s belongings as they sat at a bar in Cannon Street on 14 August, 2025.

In an attempt to “to mask their criminal intent”, the pair placed a chair in front of the pile of bags as they looked through them. During the theft, the pair can be seen removing a laptop from one bag and placing it into a different bag held up by Latif.

Latif was jailed for 23 months, after pleading guilty to nine counts of theft between 6 August 2025 and 25 September 2025. Aliouat was sentenced to 18 months in prison for stealing nine laptops between 14 August 2025 and 6 October 2025.
