Kota Kinabalu: Queen Elizabeth Hospital Sports Medicine specialist doctor Dr Ahmad Wazir Aiman called on architects, builders, property developers, furniture layout interior designers etc. to consider senior citizens and those who suffer disability either temporary while injured or permanently needing to move about in wheelchairs when designing and building a home for their living accessibility in an elderly-friendly environment.

Highlighting this fact that everyone will grow old and frail at a stage of life, and hence in his presentation: “Final Destination: Home Sweet Home” at the PropEx2023 Property Talk organised by the Sabah Housing and Real Estate Developers Association (Shareda) at the Sabah International convention Centre on Sept 2, Dr Ahmad called on them to: “keep disability and frailty in mind when you design”.

“If you cannot think of any elderly to sympathise with, think of what would your older-self wants things to be.
