
THIRTEEN individuals, including a woman and three Orang Asli, were remanded for four days following their participation in an illegal assembly outside the State Palace in Kubang Kerian yesterday.
A remand order, effective from today until Saturday, was issued by Magistrate Imran Rais Hamid to allow investigations under Section 143 of the Penal Code for involvement in an unlawful assembly. The suspects are aged between 26 and 67.
According to sources, security personnel found weapons during checks on several suspects gathered outside the palace at 11.40am, including kris, spears, cleavers, swords and bayonets.
“Additionally, items such as sticks, bamboo rods, copper teapots, copper cups, beaded chains, coins of various currencies, roots and yellow songket cloth were also seized,” the source said.
The motive behind the gathering remains under investigation. - November 12, 2025
