- A 13th Metropolitan police officer stationed at Charing Cross has been dismissed following an investigation initiated by the Independent Office for Police Conduct after an undercover BBC Panorama exposé on officer misconduct.
- PC Mason O’Connor was sacked after a disciplinary hearing over allegations that while off-duty in a pub he told a female colleague “I hope you get raped on your way to Waterloo”.
- His dismissal comes shortly after PC Lloyd Hunter was fired for making appalling off-duty comments trivialising excessive force, expressing a desire to use force on the public, and stating that he hated homeless people.
- The IOPC probe into Charing Cross police station has led to the dismissal of 13 serving officers so far, with misconduct investigations remaining active for a further 15 members of police staff.
- Both dismissed officers will be added to the College of Policing barred list to prevent future re-employment, with Met Commander Simon Messinger emphasising the force's determination to reform its culture.
