THIRTY-ONE people were involved in a three-vehicle accident at Kilometre 433 of the North–South Expressway heading south, near Hulu Selangor, in the early hours of Tuesday.

Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Operations Assistant Director Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar said the department received an emergency call at 5.12am.

A team of 16 personnel, along with fire engines from the Bukit Sentosa and Rawang Fire and Rescue Stations, was immediately dispatched to the scene.

“According to initial reports, the accident involved an express bus, a 10-tonne lorry belonging to a security company and a trailer,” he said in a statement.

Ahmad Mukhlis said the express bus was carrying 14 men, five women, seven children and two drivers.

“One of the drivers, a 39-year-old man, suffered a leg injury and was successfully extricated by firefighters at 6.05am, while several other victims sustained minor injuries,” he said.

He added that the driver of the 10-tonne lorry, a local man, was found trapped in the vehicle, with the extent of his injuries yet to be determined.

“Rescue operations to extricate the victim are ongoing. Meanwhile, his attendant, a 39-year-old man, sustained only minor injuries,” he said.

As for the trailer, Ahmad Mukhlis said its driver suffered only a minor neck injury.

All victims were subsequently handed over to the Ministry of Health for further treatment and follow-up. - February 5, 2026
