Ice cream is supposed to make people happy.
But one Xiaohongshu user somehow managed to turn a normal cup of ice cream with smiley face into something that looks like it belongs in a horror movie.
When the dessert was first opened, it looked pretty harmless. The vanilla ice cream had two little berry dots for eyes and a red jam smile, giving it a cute and cheerful face.
Nothing scary there.
But after the user started eating it, the face slowly changed.
As more of the ice cream was scooped out, the cute little face began to look increasingly strange. The berry eyes became more prominent, while the remaining ice cream formed what looked like hollow cheeks around the face.
And that red jam smile?
It suddenly looked less like a happy smile and more like a creepy grin.
By the time half of the ice cream was gone, the dessert had basically gone from cute to creepy.
The transformation caught the attention of netizens, who couldn't help comparing the final result to everything from a skeleton to a horror-movie villain.
Some joked that the ice cream looked like it was slowly revealing its “true form” as it was being eaten.
Others had a more practical question: Would you still continue eating it after seeing that face?
The funniest part is that there was probably nothing wrong with the ice cream at all. It was simply the combination of the toppings, the shape of the remaining ice cream and a few unfortunate spoonfuls that created the terrifying effect.
Still, once you see the final version, it's pretty hard to unsee.
It just goes to show that sometimes, you don't need special effects or makeup to create a horror face.
All you need is a cup of ice cream and one very unlucky scoop.
