I got this email today. I didn’t think much of it and as always, I just left that email alone. I did find it weird that Logitech is asking us to manually update their app by downloading it from their website and installing it. I thought the Options+ and G HUB app has an auto updater like every other modern software.

Turned out, this is a mistake on Logitech’s end, as reported by other sites. Logitech somehow let its Apple Developer Certificate expire and did not renew it in time. That affected Reddit user /u/Disastrous-Track3876, and they were stuck in an app bootloop, rendering all the shortcuts and whatever customizations made on the mouse to not work.

Ah, since the app can’t be started, the auto updater itself wouldn’t run either. So that makes sense that we have to install the update manually, then. It’s definitely a hassle, but it raises a lot of questions about how this happened in the first place.

Updated my Logitech Options+!

I do applaud Logitech for taking swift action to push out a fix, owning it up, and apologizing in the original Reddit thread. Kudos, Logitech. I updated my Options+ app too. Took me less than a minute.

Do take note that this issue only affects Mac users. Windows users are unaffected.
