- Experts from the Royal College of Ophthalmologists warned that retinal damage is painless, meaning symptoms such as central blind spots or blurred vision may only appear hours later.
- Standard sunglasses, cameras and binoculars do not offer adequate protection, so experts recommend using verified ISO-certified eclipse glasses, indirect projection, or watching live broadcasts.
- The eclipse will be visible across the UK between 6.08pm and 8.10pm on 12 August, reaching its peak between 7.05pm and 7.16pm.
