- Over £18,000 has been raised via a GoFundMe page to support Mr Tighearnan, with his actions praised by his partner and Northern Ireland secretary Hilary Benn.
- The stabbing incident subsequently led to large protests and unrest in Belfast, including homes and cars being set alight.
