Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed man was charged in the Magistrate’s Court on Wednesday with threatening to injure his wife at the KKIA.

Nicholas Joseph Green, 39, pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Stephanie Sherron Abbie to criminally intimidating the 38-year-old woman at Door 1 on the first floor, outside the Arrival Hall of the Kota Kinabalu International Airport.

The charge under Section 506 of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to seven years or fine or both, on conviction.

Duty counsel Lim Ming Zoong @ Lawrence, in applying for a lower bail told the court that Nicholas has four children and taking care of his ageing parents.

In another case, a woman was fined RM100 or a day’s jail for fraudulently having RM5,000 in her bank account two years ago.

Chee Lee Ching admitted to having the money in her CIMB Bank account which belonged to Kartina Dina.

Chee failed to give a satisfactory explanation as to how she obtained the money at 10.42am on Sept 9, 2021.

She was charged offence under Section 22A (1) of the Minor Offences Ordinance, which provides a fine of up to RM100 or up to three months jail or both, on conviction.

Meanwhile, two men were penalised for committing drug-related offences.

Affendy Rahman was jailed 27 months and ordered to be caned three times by Magistrate Lovely Natasha Charles after he pleaded guilty to having 9.54gm of syabu at 6.05pm on Jan 12 at Jalan Tuaran.

The charge under Section 12 (2) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 provides for a fine of up to RM100,000 or up to five years jail or both, on conviction.

The other man Komal Kamal was jailed eight months by Magistrate Stephanie after he admitted to taking syabu here on March 13.

He had committed an offence under Section 15(1) of the Dangerous Drugs Act which provides for a fine of up to RM5,000 or up to two years jail, on conviction.

Kamal was ordered to be referred to the Immigration Department after serving his sentence.
