
Kota Kinabalu: An unemployed man was sentenced to 12 months’ jail and fined RM3,000 or two months’ jail on Tuesday for threatening to kill his father.
Abdul Habir, 25, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Jessica Ombou Kakayun to committing criminal intimidation by threatening to kill Mujibburahman Sadik and to burn his house at 10am on July 23, this year at the Warung Rampaian Inanam.
Inspector Albert Basiri, prosecuting, told the court that the complainant was at his shop when Abdul came and caused havoc in the area, which disturbed the customers there.
At that time Abdul also said that he might start killing (someone) there before his sibling came and calmed him and told him to leave the place.
The father then lodged a police report later as he feared for his safety, the court heard.
Abdul was charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code, which carries a jail term of up to two years or fine, or both, on conviction.
In another case, a 20-year-old woman was fined RM1,000 or one month jail for giving a false statement to the police.
Maznira Ahau admitted to committing the offence at 11.11am on Dec 20, 2021 at the Manggatal Police Station.
The court heard that Maznira gave a false statement claiming that she was molested by a man at her house at Taman Jaya Diri, Sepanggar on Dec 19 of the same year.
Police investigations revealed that Maznira had lied and she confessed that the report she had made was untrue.
Maznira was charged under Section 182 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to six months or fine up to RM2,000, or both, on conviction.
