TAWAU: A man was jailed 12 months by the Magistrate’s Court, here, for threatening his 13-year-old son with a knife and ordering him to pray.

Ardi Aris, 32, pleaded guilty before Magistrate Don Stiwin Malanjum.

The man who works at a car wash intended to threaten his son by waving a knife at their home at Batu 8 Jalan Apas at 9am on Aug 4.

The court heard that the man went to his former brother-in-law’s house, hurried into the kitchen to fetch a knife and then approached the youngster while pointing the knife at him and commanding him to pray.

The man is charged under Section 506 of the Penal Code which carries a jail term of up to seven years and liable to a fine, if convicted.

Tawau District Police Criminal Investigation Division ASP Nur Intan Jamrin prosecuted, while the man was not represented.

The divorced man had previously been referred to the Mesra Bukit Padang Hospital in Kota Kinabalu.
