Kota Kinabalu: Three individuals, including a woman, have been arrested and syabu worth nearly RM8 million seized in a series of coordinated raids in the district on May 22.
State Police Commissioner Datuk Jauteh Dikun said police confiscated 159.8 kilogrammes of methamphetamine following an operation by the Sabah IPK Narcotics Crime Investigation Department (JSJN) based on intelligence gathering.
He said the first suspect was detained after being seen carrying a box before fleeing towards City Mall Kota Kinabalu, with subsequent inspections uncovering multiple drug packages and packaging materials at several locations including Luyang and a hotel in the city centre.
Further raids in Inanam and a parked vehicle led to additional seizures, bringing the total to 156 packages of syabu weighing 159.8 kilogrammes, while two Proton X50 vehicles were also confiscated.
The case is being investigated under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952, and police are tracking down three more suspects believed to be involved in the syndicate.
