
A YOUNG boy has been killed and eleven others injured following a devastating three-vehicle collision along the Segamat-Kuantan Highway near Muadzam Shah early on Monday morning.
The fatal crash, which occurred at approximately 1.12 am, involved a Proton Saga, a Perodua Alza, and a Perodua Axia. The young victim, who was travelling in the Proton Saga, became trapped inside the wreckage and was pronounced dead at the scene by emergency services.
Pahang Fire and Rescue Department public relations officer Zulfadli Zakaria stated that six personnel and one fire engine from the Muadzam Shah Fire and Rescue Station were immediately dispatched to the site upon receiving the emergency call, with additional support provided by five personnel and a machine from the Chini station.
“The accident involved twelve victims from three vehicles, namely a Proton Saga, a Perodua Alza, and a Perodua Axia,” Zulfadli said in a statement on Monday.
“Inside the Proton Saga, two adult men were trapped and injured, while one boy was injured, and another boy was confirmed dead,” he added.
The four occupants of the Perodua Alza, comprising an adult man, two adult women, and a young girl, all sustained injuries during the impact.
“As for the Perodua Axia, an adult woman was trapped and injured, while two other adult women and a boy were also injured,” Zulfadli explained.
Emergency responders utilised specialised rescue equipment to extricate the trapped victims from the crushed vehicles. All the injured individuals were rushed to a nearby hospital for urgent medical treatment, whilst the body of the deceased child was handed over to the police for further action.
Separately, another midnight horror unfolded in Selangor as two male motorists were killed in a collision involving a car and a motorcycle along Jalan Ampang Pecah-Rasa in Kuala Kubu Bharu.
The victims of the second crash were identified as a 28-year-old motorcyclist and his 14-year-old pillion rider.
Selangor Fire and Rescue Department assistant director of operations Ahmad Mukhlis Mukhtar stated that the department received a distress call regarding the incident at 12.14 am. A team of six responders from the Bukit Sentosa Fire and Rescue Station was subsequently rushed to the scene with a fire engine.
“The operations commander reported that the accident involved a Proton Waja car and a motorcycle,” Ahmad said in a statement on Monday.
“There were three victims involved, consisting of two men and one woman,” he noted.
Medical personnel from the Ministry of Health confirmed that the two males riding the motorcycle had succumbed to their injuries at the crash site.
“A 51-year-old woman, who was the driver of the car, sustained injuries,” Ahmad said, adding that the firemen had to perform extrication operations to remove the trapped victim.
Investigations into the exact causes of both fatal incidents are currently being conducted by the police. - May 25, 2026
