Even as the police detained three suspects in connection with the brutal murder of a youth in the Tehsilpura area, a chilling video of the crime went viral on social media on Friday, triggering fear and outrage among residents.

In the footage, the accused were allegedly seen repeatedly stabbing the victim before placing his body on a scooter. One of the suspects was also allegedly seen sitting atop the corpse while moving through the streets.

The victim, identified as Kunal, was allegedly murdered by Vansh and his associates late on Wednesday night.

According to the police, the accused roamed through the lanes of Tehsilpura, Rani Bagh and Sharifpura for nearly three kilometres with the body placed on the rear seat of an Activa scooter.

Residents reportedly remained terrified and no one dared to intervene. The gruesome sequence came to light after the police examined CCTV footage collected from several cameras installed in the locality. One of the clips allegedly showed the accused stopping the scooter midway and attacking Kunal’s body with sharp-edged weapons even after his death.

Additional Deputy Commissioner of Police Harpal Singh said raids had been conducted at multiple locations over the past two days and three suspects had been detained for questioning. Investigators are analysing CCTV footage to identify other persons involved in the crime. Multiple police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the absconding accused.

Kunal, a resident of the Tung Bala area, had reportedly been assaulted earlier by the accused. On Wednesday night, he was again attacked with sharp-edged weapons in the Tehsilpura locality, leading to his death. The accused later allegedly paraded the body through the streets and even fired at the corpse while moving through the area.
