Three people miraculously escaped injury after a large tree fell and crushed their two cars in George Town early this morning.

GEORGE TOWN: Three people escaped unhurt after a large tree fell and crushed the two cars they were in at Jalan Mount Erskine here early today.

The Penang Fire and Rescue Department received an emergency call at 12.35am. Assistant director of operations John Sagun Francis said two vehicles, a Perodua Viva and a Perodua Bezza, were found crushed under the fallen tree.

“The three victims inside the two cars managed to escape before our team arrived,” he said in a statement. A man and a woman were in the Perodua Viva, while the Perodua Bezza was driven by a man.

John Sagun confirmed that no one was injured in the incident. The department’s Operations Response Team (PKO) then carried out tree-cutting and removal work using specialised equipment.

The operation concluded at 3.29 am, clearing the road and ensuring the area was safe.
