
TAWAU: Police arrested three men suspected of being involved in a theft case at a construction site on Jalan Sin Onn, resulting in a loss of RM5, 000 to the construction contractor.
Tawau District Police Chief, ACP Jasmin Hussin, said two of the suspects, foreigners aged between 24 and 32, were arrested by a team from the Criminal Investigation Division around 9.50am on Tuesday.
He said that a check on their past criminal records also revealed that both suspects had previous criminal records for theft.
He added that following the arrest of these two men, another of their accomplice, a 37-year-old local, was arrested around 11am in the town area.

Earlier, Jasmin said, the police received a report lodged by the victim, a 64-year-old project contractor, on May 19 after he saw three unidentified men carrying out three aluminium frames from the construction site area around 3.45 pm.
In his report, the man said the suspects fled in a vehicle, and he later discovered that 16 aluminium frames were missing, believed to have been stolen, after conducting an inspection.
The victim estimated a loss of RM5, 000 due to the theft.
