THREE individuals, including a 40-year-old woman, were placed in remand for up to five days today to assist investigations into a violent attack in which a man sustained serious injuries from a machete assault carried out by a group of assailants on motorcycles.
Magistrate Nur Fadrina Zulkhairi ordered a five-day remand for two male suspects, both aged 29, extending until 4 March, while the woman was remanded for four days until 3 March.
The remand was granted to allow authorities to conduct investigations under Section 326 of the Penal Code.
The three suspects were arrested around midnight in the George Town area.
Authorities confirmed that the two men are businessmen, while the female suspect is employed as a company administrator.
Preliminary inquiries suggest the attack may have been motivated by a business-related conflict.
Investigators are continuing to gather evidence and interview witnesses to establish the full circumstances surrounding the assault. - February 28, 2026
