KUALA LUMPUR – Three army officers were injured when an M81-11 (Agusta L109H) military helicopter made an emergency landing during an early morning air exercise in Kluang, Johor.
The aircraft made the emergency landing at the camp's runway.
In a statement, the army said that the incident occurred during the Army Aviation Basic Officer Course at Kem Mahkota Kluang at about 1.35am today.
"The incident involved three crewmen: a helicopter instructor, a course participant and a quartermaster.
"All crewmen are conscious but have suffered multiple injuries, including a spine fracture and various wounds.
"They are all stable and have been sent to Enche Besar Hajjah Khalsom Hospital in Kluang for further treatment," it added.
It also said the helicopter involved had been temporarily grounded.
"A rectification process and a one-time inspection will be conducted to restore the aircraft's flight status.
"Additionally, the army will form an investigation board to determine the cause of the incident.
"We urge the public to refrain from speculation and to pray for the recovery of all crew members," the statement read. – June 28, 2024
