IPOH: Police have arrested three people, including a policeman, and seized over 300 grammes of methamphetamine, heroin and cannabis from a lock-up at the Lumut Police Station on Tuesday.
Perak police chief Datuk Mohd Alwi Zainal Abidin said the Manjung district police headquarters found the drugs with two accused persons, both aged in their 40s, inside the lock-up at about 8.30 am.
“Police found 16 plastic tube packets containing suspected methamphetamine weighing an estimated 109.54 grammes, as well as 16 plastic tube packets containing suspected heroin weighing an estimated 110.37 grammes.
“They also found 23 plastic tube packets containing dried leaves suspected to be cannabis, with an estimated weight of 142.31 grammes,” he told a press conference after the launch of the disposal of drug and ketum case exhibits at the Perak police contingent headquarters here today.
He said the total value of the drugs seized was estimated at RM18,534.
Following the discovery, police also arrested a constable in his 30s who was based at the police station to assist in investigations.
Mohd Alwi said preliminary urine screening found that two of the three detainees tested positive for methamphetamine, while the policeman tested negative for drugs and had no previous criminal record.
“All three detainees have been remanded for seven days from yesterday until Aug 18 to assist investigations under Section 39B of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952 and Section 15(1)(a) of the same Act,” he said.
