Three minor girls in the Jamalpur area went missing on May 28. They are yet to be traced.

Based on the complaint of mother of one of the victims, the Jamalpur police have registered a case against a youth, identified as Karan, from Uttar Pradesh on the charge of kidnapping and launched further investigation.

The complainant, Rajeshwari, told the police that her eldest daughter, Mansi (16), daughter of her sister-in-law Chandravati, Deepika (14), and Shalini (15), who is also her relative’s daughter, went missing from their houses without informing anyone.

The case took a shocking turn when she received a call from her daughter, Mansi. She informed her that she was in Ambala, Haryana. Karan, a resident of Sitapur district in Uttar Pradesh, had lured her away. The other two girls, Deepika and Shalini, were travelling by train to their native village.

The complainant told the police that she was convinced that Karan had lured her daughter, Mansi, on the pretext of marriage and had abducted her.

The Jamalpur police took immediate action. On May 29, the police registered a case against Karan under Sections 137(2) and 96 of the BNS.

SI Gurmeet Singh said police teams were conducting raids at possible hideouts of the suspect in Ambala and Uttar Pradesh to safely recover the girls and apprehend the youth.
