A senior officer and two lower-ranking policemen were detained in Ipoh drug raids, with the two juniors testing positive for ketamine and methamphetamine.

KUALA LUMPUR: A senior police officer and two lower-ranking policemen were among those detained in anti-drug raids at two entertainment outlets in Ipoh on April 5.

Bukit Aman Narcotics Criminal Investigation Department director Datuk Hussein Omar Khan said the two lower-ranking personnel also tested positive for drugs.

They are a corporal and a lance corporal based in Johor, aged 26 and 40.

“The corporal tested positive for ketamine, while his colleague tested positive for methamphetamine, amphetamine and ketamine,” he said when contacted by Bernama today.

He said the senior officer, who is based in Perak, tested negative.

“This action proves that we do not compromise on any offences, including those involving police personnel,” he added.

He said 59 men and 28 women were detained in the raids at Bandar Baru Medan Ipoh and Taman Ipoh to assist investigations under Section 15(1)(a) of the Dangerous Drugs Act 1952.
