Three Selangor areas to see winds, rains, storms until evening — MetMalaysia

SHAH ALAM, Sept 2 — Strong weather is expected in the districts of Sabak Bernam, Hulu Selangor and Gombak until early evening today.

In a statement issued at 1.45pm, the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia) said other states and territories which will be similarly affected include Kuala Lumpur and Penang.

“Kedah (Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu) and Perak (Kerian, Hulu Perak, Manjung, Kinta, Perak Tengah, Kampar, Bagan Datuk, Hilir Perak, Batang Padang and Muallim) will also experience inclement weather.

“The same goes for Kelantan (Jeli, Kuala Krai and Gua Musang), Terengganu (Besut, Hulu Terengganu and Dungun), and Pahang (Tanah Tinggi Cameron, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut and Bentong),” it said.

Elsewhere, Johor (Mersing, Kulai, Kota Tinggi and Johor Bahru), Sarawak including Miri (Beluru, Miri and Marudi) and Limbang, and Sabah including Pantai Barat (Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud) and Sandakan (Kinabatangan) will undergo strong weather as well..

The weather is expected to persist until 5pm.

MetMalaysia issues warnings whenever signs indicate a thunderstorm with a rain intensity exceeding 20 mm that is close to or is expected to occur for more than an hour.

A thunderstorm warning is a short-term warning valid for a period not exceeding six hours for a single release.
