- The arrest followed a multi-state pursuit after authorities tracked a vehicle linked to one of the victims from Utah through Arizona to Colorado. Police stated there is no indication the unidentified suspect had any prior connection to the victims.
- The community in Wayne County, a sparsely populated area, was rattled by the killings, leading to school closures, but authorities have confirmed there is no longer an ongoing threat to the public.
