
MetMalaysia warns of thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds in Kuala Lumpur and 11 states until 9 pm tonight
KUALA LUMPUR: The Malaysian Meteorological Department has issued a severe weather warning for thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds.
The alert covers the Federal Territory of Kuala Lumpur and 11 other states until 9 pm today.
In addition to the capital, the entire states of Penang and Perak are expected to be affected.
In Kedah, the districts of Kubang Pasu, Kota Setar, Pokok Sena, Padang Terap, Yan, Pendang, Kuala Muda, Sik, Baling, Kulim and Bandar Baharu are on alert.
The affected areas in Selangor are Hulu Selangor and Gombak.
On the East Coast, the warning includes Kuala Krai and Gua Musang in Kelantan.
It also covers Kuala Nerus, Kuala Terengganu, Marang, Dungun and Kemaman in Terengganu.
In Pahang, the districts of Cameron Highlands, Lipis, Raub, Jerantut, Temerloh, Maran, Kuantan, Pekan and Rompin are listed.
The warning extends to Jempol and Tampin in Negeri Sembilan.
In Johor, the affected areas are Segamat, Muar, Batu Pahat, Kluang and Kulai.
For Sabah, the Interior districts of Sipitang, Tenom, Kuala Penyu, Beaufort and Tambunan are included.
The alert also covers Sabah’s West Coast districts of Papar, Putatan, Penampang, Kota Kinabalu, Tuaran and Kota Belud.
In Sarawak, the warning is for Kuching, Serian, Samarahan and Sri Aman.
It also includes the Kapit division districts of Song and Kapit.
The Miri division districts of Subis, Beluru, Telang Usan and Marudi are affected, along with Limbang.
