Kota Kinabalu: Thunderstorms, heavy rain and strong winds are expected in several areas in Sabah until 6pm Saturday (Sept 26), according to the Malaysian Meteorological Department (MetMalaysia).
The affected areas include the Interior, West Coast, Kudat, Sandakan and Tawau divisions.
In the Interior, affected districts are Beaufort, Tenom, Sipitang, Membakut, Tambunan and Keningau, while Kota Marudu is affected in the Kudat division.
Affected areas in the Sandakan division are Paitan, Sandakan and Kinabatangan, while Lahad Datu and Kunak are affected in the Tawau division.
MetMalaysia issued the warning at 3.20pm on Saturday, saying such warnings are issued when thunderstorms with rainfall exceeding 20mm per hour are detected or expected to occur for more than an hour.
