A TIGER is believed to have killed an Orang Asli man while he was searching for rattan in the Korbu Forest Reserve near Kampung Takung, Pos Perwor near Sungai Siput yesterday.
Zamberi Angah, 43, was found dead at 6.58pm in a bamboo thicket near a logging road, about 200 metres from the site where the attack was believed to have occurred.
The victim was reportedly searching for rattan with a friend when he was attacked by the animal.
Tiger paw prints and bite marks on the victim’s neck were found, along with signs of a struggle, dragging and blood around the location where his body was discovered.
The Perak Department of Wildlife and National Parks (Perhilitan) received a report of the incident at about 4.30pm and launched a search operation at 6.30pm.
Zamberi was found about 28 minutes later in the bamboo thicket near the logging road.
Perhilitan Perak director Dr Pazil Abdul Patah said the department had met the victim’s son and would assist the family in applying for Wildlife Attack Victim Assistance.
He said safety advice had also been given to villagers following the incident.
“Tiger traps will be installed in the near future to locate and capture the animal,” he said. - September 22, 2026
