KUALA LUMPUR — More than 5.5 million Road Transport Department (JPJ) summonses are still outstanding for various traffic offences as of today, Transport Minister Anthony Loke said.

Speaking after the ministry’s November assembly and Deepavali celebration in Putrajaya, Loke urged motorists to settle their dues while the 50% discount remains in place until December 30.

“The 50% discount is still applicable until Dec 30,” he said. “We urge those with outstanding summonses to take the opportunity while it lasts.”

According to Loke, of the 5.538 million outstanding summonses, 3.685 million are under the JPJ (P) 22 category, followed by 1.387 million issued under the Automated Awareness Safety System (AwAS).

The remaining cases include 297,382 under JPJ Notice 114, 161,699 under Notice 115, and 6,409 under the Commercial Vehicle Licensing Board Act 1987.

Loke also reminded road users that beginning January 1, 2026, traffic compounds issued by JPJ and the police will be standardised under a new structure based on the principle of “the less you delay, the less you pay.”

Under the new system, motorists who pay within 15 days will receive a 50% reduction, while those paying within 30 days will get a 33% discount. The full amount will apply after 30 days, and failure to pay within 60 days will result in court action or blacklisting.

“Anyone who does not settle their compounds will either go to court or have their Motor Vehicle Licence (LKM) blacklisted,” Loke warned. “As such, they will not be able to renew their road tax, which is linked to the MySikap system.”

The discount campaign, which began earlier this year, is part of the ministry’s effort to encourage compliance before stricter enforcement begins in 2026. — November 6, 2025
