Kota Kinabalu: Sabah DAP Chairman Datuk Phoong Jin Zhe said the party will field a team of hardworking candidates in the coming state election.

“We hope to win the people’s trust and be part of the next state government following Monday’s dissolution of the State Legislative Assembly.

“This state election is the right time to start a new chapter in Sabah politics where young people get bigger roles. I am ready to take on more responsibility and prove to the people that real change is happening,” he said.

He said the state election must make way for more young leaders to enter government and the State Assembly, replacing old-style politics and politicians who just rehash the same old ideas.

“Only DAP has a team of capable young leaders with experience and vision who can bring fresh hope to Sabah,” he said.

He pointed out DAP’s performance both at federal and state level, showing the party delivers real results through hard work, honesty and practical action.

“Over the past two and a half years in government, DAP leaders have brought development and progress to Sabah.

“Under Transport Minister Anthony Loke, both Tawau and Kota Kinabalu airports are being upgraded, while Kota Kinabalu has launched its first modern public bus system,” he said.

He said through DAP’s work in bringing in more industry and investment, Sabah created 140,000 new jobs in just 18 months, pushing unemployment to its lowest level since the pandemic.

“Sabah also achieved the third-best investment performance in the country in early 2025 and ranked first in Malaysia for industrial investment,” he said.

He said elections should be about comparing achievements and actions conducted fairly and reasonably, without hate politics or playing communities against each other.

Additionally, he said if no party wins a clear majority, DAP will work with other parties on policies that put people first, solve everyday problems and bring new hope to Sabah.

“My team and I will keep working hard with humility and honesty, hoping to earn the people’s trust again to serve them in the next term,” he said.
