Tiong King Sing, the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture, apologized to Chinese tourists for their bad experiences while in Malaysia and promised to make amends.

According to Malaysia Kini, Tiong said his ministry was aware of the bad experiences some tourists had when visiting Malaysia during his speech at the opening of the China International Travel Mart (CITM) in Shanghai.

According to him, Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim is deeply troubled by the situation and has directed the appropriate authorities to strengthen security protocols and guarantee that every visitor to Malaysia will have a wonderful and memorable stay.

"I would want to express Malaysia's heartfelt apologies to Chinese tourists for our mistakes. To further enhance the tourism service platform and the guest experience, we will keep in constant contact with all pertinent stakeholders," said Tiong.

The nature of the shortages or problems that tourists experience is not explained in detail in the statement.

However, the opposition MPs criticized the actions of the Minister of Tourism, Arts, and Culture.

According to Sinar Harian, Machang Member of Parliament, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal Wan Ahmad Kamal said King Sing's actions of apologizing to the Chinese tourists were seen as unnecessary.

"I want to criticize the argument of the Minister of Tourism; is he the Minister of Tourism from China or Malaysia? What did he apologize for in China? It is said that we do not treat Chinese tourists well and there is no infrastructure to facilitate them.

Meanwhile, Wan Ahmad Fayhsal, who is also the Head of the Armada, claimed that the Bintulu Member of Parliament also did not respect the position of the Malay language as the national language.

"Tourists come here; they don't want to see us as more Chinese than them; they want to celebrate what Malaysia has. For me, the argument given by King Sing is a trivial reason, the same chauvinistic thinking as DAP, even though he is not DAP," said Wan Ahmad Fayhsal.
