TENAGA Nasional Berhad (TNB) has announced a 100% one-off rebate on electricity bills for affected customers in Putra Heights, following the recent gas pipeline explosion.

The rebate will be applied to the March 2025 bill and credited to the affected customers’ April 2025 electricity statements.

In a statement released today, TNB explained that the rebate is part of its corporate social responsibility (CSR) initiative, "Bantuan Kebakaran TNB," aimed at easing the financial burden of customers impacted by the explosion on Tuesday.

In addition to the full rebate, TNB confirmed that there will be no reconnection charges for households applying for the restoration of their electricity supply.

The company also assured customers that no late payment surcharges would be imposed on the current bills.

TNB will collaborate with local authorities and registered contractors to inspect the electrical wiring systems in affected homes to ensure that they are safe and operational.

“TNB has opened a service counter near the Police Operations Room since April 2 to assist affected customers with their electricity-related concerns,” the statement continued.

Furthermore, TNB officials will reach out to all impacted customers to coordinate the support measures to be provided. Customers in need of further information can contact TNB's Customer Relationship Manager, Mr. Thava, at 012-6060954.

“TNB will continue to assess the need for additional support and is committed to monitoring the electrical supply in the affected areas to ensure the safety and comfort of the residents,” the statement concluded. “We wish all those affected a speedy recovery and hope that the recovery efforts proceed smoothly." – April 6, 2025
