Touch ‘n Go (TNG eWallet) has announced an update to its GOrewards loyalty programme, which was rolled out just weeks before in early November 2023. According to a post on its social media account, TNG eWallet users will now also be allowed to earn points through GOrewards when they scan and pay with any DuitNow QR codes, including those that are not generated by TNG eWallet.
This latest development diverges from the e-wallet platform’s previous announcement, where users are restricted to transacting with merchants using TNG-generated QR codes only, if they wish to earn points for the GOrewards programme. Payments made via DuitNow QR codes by other payment service providers are not supported by the loyalty programme. This is in addition various other eligible transactions that will also earn you points, such as payments via the TNG Visa prepaid card and GOremit transactions.
With this, here’s the updated list of all eligible transactions that will now earn you GOrewards points, in comparison to the previous list:
This update essentially makes things a lot easier for TNG eWallet users who wish to maximise the benefits provided under the GOrewards programme, as they will no longer need to constantly check or enquire for TNG-generated QR codes to make payments. More importantly, it opens up a lot more opportunities for users to earn points through their day-to-day purchases.
For context, TNG eWallet’s GOrewards programme lets you earn 1 point for every RM1 spent via eligible transactions (standard earning), which you can then use to redeem a variety of vouchers and rewards from the programme’s catalogue. There are also selected participating merchant partners who offer bonus points of up to 6 points for every RM1 spent.
Aside from sharing this change to its GOrewards programme, TNG eWallet also teased that there will be more surprises coming in early December.
