A three-year-old girl died and three others were injured after a Perodua Kelisa collided with a police patrol car on Jalan Ipoh-Lumut this afternoon.

IPOH: A three-year-old girl was killed and three others injured in a head-on collision between a civilian car and a police patrol vehicle this afternoon.

The fatal accident occurred at 3.55 pm in the Puncak Jelapang area along Jalan Ipoh-Lumut.

Ipoh district police chief ACP Abang Zainal Abidin Abang Ahmad said the toddler, Chong Zee Han, was pronounced dead at 4.32 pm while receiving treatment at Raja Permaisuri Bainun Hospital (HRPB).

Her driver, 34-year-old Wong Mee Gee, sustained facial injuries in the crash.

Two police officers in the patrol car, aged 42 and 48, also suffered injuries including leg wounds, shoulder fractures, and cuts to their eyelids.

Initial investigations indicate a Perodua Kelisa, driven by Wong, was travelling from the opposite direction when it is believed to have suddenly lost control.

The civilian vehicle then veered into the oncoming lane and collided with the Honda Civic police patrol car, which was heading from Lumut towards Jelapang.

All four victims from both vehicles were rushed to HRPB for treatment following the incident.

“Further investigations are underway, and this case is being investigated under Section 41(1) of the Road Transport Act 1987,” Abang Zainal Abidin added.
