Tom Holland says IMAX camera caused anxiety on Christopher Nolan’s Odyssey set

  • Tom Holland, who portrays Telemachus in Christopher Nolan's upcoming adaptation of Homer's The Odyssey, initially experienced significant anxiety and confusion during his first day of filming an emotional scene.
  • Holland recounted his concern over the director's repeated cuts, fearing his performance was unsatisfactory, until he discovered the interruptions were due to the IMAX cameras' three-minute recording limit.
  • The Odyssey marks a cinematic milestone as the first feature film to be shot entirely using IMAX film cameras, a development facilitated by Nolan's work with IMAX to create more advanced equipment.
  • The actor also shared that he successfully requested a delay in the production of Spider-Man: Brand New Day to ensure his participation in The Odyssey, a decision he believes ultimately improved the Spider-Man sequel.
  • The film, which boasts an ensemble cast including Matt Damon as Odysseus and Anne Hathaway as Penelope, is slated for release in cinemas on 17 July 2026.
