  • Tony Parkes, affectionately known as “Mr Blackburn Rovers”, has passed away at the age of 76.
  • He was a long-serving figure at Blackburn Rovers, joining as a player in 1970 and remaining with the club until 2004.
  • As a player, Parkes made 409 appearances, scoring 46 goals and helping the club win the Third Division title in 1975.
  • After retiring, he transitioned to coaching, serving as first-team coach, undertaking six spells as caretaker manager, and was part of the staff during Blackburn’s 1995 Premier League triumph.
  • Blackburn Rovers confirmed his passing, paying tribute to a “true club legend” and announcing a special tribute at their final home game of the season on 2 May.
