We’re free to ‘modify’ and create any recipes that we may find interesting, but the real question we should be asking is, “Are they really edible?”

Just recently, a local radio station shared a viral reel that shows the cooking process of fried rice. While many Malaysians find the food relatable to our palate, the recipe comes with an unexpected twist. Fancy a plate of fried rice with some cookie crumbs? Get yourself some Oreos because there’s a recipe for Oreo Fried Rice going on right now.

The video begins with the cook heating up the oil before throwing in a few pieces of Oreo biscuits into the wok and breaking them into crumbs using a ladle. The cook then stirs the Oreo crumbs with the hot oil, and when it resembles a paste, rice was added in, along with some salt, carrot dice and soy sauce.

Before serving it, the plate of rice was drizzled with some chives.

“Crappy food belongs to none other than our country”

In the comment sections, many Malaysians took the opportunity to express what they think of the recipe, and most of them were not amused.
