Chinese New Year is a significant holiday that marks the beginning of spring and a brand-new calendar year. In 2023, the Year of the Rabbit and the Chinese New Year will fall on Sunday, 22 January. This yearly event honours a long-standing custom whereby family members get together for a joyous reunion luncheon.
These top hotels and restaurants in KL and Selangor provide month-long festive menus and distinctive dishes, ranging from a full-course meal to a buffet dinner, in order to celebrate the new year.
From the genuine Cantonese cuisine at Sheraton Petaling Jaya to the lavish buffet at W Kuala Lumpur, here are the best places for you to have a reunion dinner with your family!

W Kuala Lumpur
The heart of KL's YEN restaurant offers four delectable set menus for the prosperous Chinese New Year of 2023: Spot of Sunshine, Prosperous Life Forever, Wishing You Prosperity, and Double Happiness. These menus are available from 2 January to 5 February.
The iconic Norwegian salmon fish will be included in each set, along with air-dried Szechuan fish chips, salty-crisp fish skin, and red palm oil. The premium abalone yee sang with premium caviar, gold flakes, truffle oil, and red palm oil, however, will be part of the Double Happiness set menu.

One World Hotel Petaling Jaya
Zuan Yuan Chinese Restaurant is prepared to host a special reunion meal with a generous spread from right now to February 12, 2023. Choose from four sets that are ideal for a table of ten: the Vegetarian set, the Ruby Prosperity set (RM1,988 nett), the Sapphire Prosperity set (RM2,288 nett), and the Emerald Prosperity set (RM2,688 nett) (RM1,488 nett). Each set comes with a specially crafted nine-course meal, a free Prosperity Yee Sung, and a bottle of house wine (excluding the vegetarian set). Steamed fresh prawns with glass noodles and golden garlic sauce, braised prosperous lobster meat with seafood treasure and truffle paste, and sauteed baby abalone with shitake mushrooms, asparagus, and truffle oil are some of the dishes to look forward to.

Sheraton Petaling Jaya
At Yue, the Sheraton Petaling Jaya Hotel offers a delectable selection of traditional Cantonese feasts. The Auspicious Lunar ($2,388 nett), The Imperial Prosperity ($3,288 nett), Osmanthus Blossom ($268 nett per person), and Crystal Jade ($2,388 nett) are the four sets that diners can choose from (RM338 nett per person).
Each set menu features Yue's hallmark dishes, including stir-fries, desserts, robust soups, premium seafood dishes, and the traditional yee sung with deep-fried soft-shell crab. Other standout dishes include the stir-fried prawn flesh with lotus root and pandan cream, the steamed chicken with Chinese herbs and lotus leaf, and the osmanthus with lemongrass and tragacanth gum jelly.
For a table of 10, we advise ordering the nine-course set menus, Auspicious Lunar and The Imperial Prosperity. Select the Osmanthus Blossom and the Sea Bass from the seven-course menu.
Why not take some time off and book a table at one of these restaurants while there is still time to prepare a memorable dinner?
