The total lunar eclipse, also known as the Blood Moon, will occur on 14 March and is one of the most significant astronomical and astrological events of 2025. When will the total lunar eclipse occur and will it be visible from Malaysia?
On 14 March, the total lunar eclipse will begin at 11:57 am MYT, peak at 2:58 pm MYT and end by 6:00 pm MYT. Since it will be daytime in Malaysia and other Asian and Southeast Asian countries, the eclipse will not be visible in this part of the world.
It will, however, be visible in Western Europe, West Africa, North America and South America. The next lunar eclipse that will be visible from Malaysia will occur on 7 September 2025.

Why is it called the Blood Moon?
A lunar eclipse occurs when the Earth comes between the Sun and the Moon, blocking the sunlight illuminating the moon. The central portion of the Earth’s shadow, which is also the darkest part, known as the umbra, covers the moon during its brightest phase. Subsequently, the moon appears red from the Earth’s vantage point due to the scattering of the light waves, also known as Rayleigh scattering, earning the celestial event the moniker of Blood Moon.
Spiritually, the Blood Moon on 14 March occurs in Virgo, focusing largely on the themes of routine, self-realisation, healing and weeding out wanted people and situations from life.
