Tottenam boss Ange Postecoglou was delighted after their thrashing of Newcastle United on Sunday.

Spurs hammered Newcastle 4-1, with Richarlison scoring twice.

Postecoglou said: "I thought our performance was excellent in all facets. We looked really bright and clinical in our front third. We created a number of chances and kept them to minimal and the boys get the rewards for it.

"Richarlison was important for us at the start of the year too, when he wasn't fully fit. He's come back, that's 70 minutes he's played. I thought he did really well today, finishing off his stuff. But also, he worked really hard for the team. A good performance from him.

"Son Heung-min was hugely important early in the game. He did that and that allowed the other boys to feed off that. That's what you want from your leaders in these times.

"It doesn't take too much science to find that our dip came when we lost a few influential players. It hasn't been easy. I haven't been hard with the lads but I've not been compromising and allowing excuses.

"I've probably been too harsh on them. Newcastle are the only other club to have had the injuries that we've had. It's unrelenting in this league. You miss one or two key players, you're going to slip.

"We've gone through a tough time. Hopefully we're getting out the other side."
